As is appropriate for "Music Monday" I am Watching the first hour of MTV from "Video Killed the Radio Star" to the VJ's and everything in between!!!

Poetry Sunday!!!

Poetry Sunday is the time I come and bring you Poems that either reflect how I'm, feeling, the mood of they day, have been stuck in my head, I like or in some rare occasions have written. Sometimes I'll post and explain sometimes I'll let the poem speak for itself. Today I think I'll explain.

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening - Robert Frost

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

I chose this poem because it is one of my favorites. The last stanza (the woods...sleep) is absolutely beautiful.  It makes me think of those "3 a.m. moments" when you're forced to just be alone and really relate to yourself. It reminds me that life is a constant journey, and how often do we feel that there are "miles to go before I sleep"?

Just for Fun!!

AS PROMISED: "The 90's Strike Back"

The 90’s have made a humongous comeback in fashion today. We are seeing many trends resurrect from the dead and become renewed and fresh. Such as:

Denim on denim which was a very poplar look in the 90’s is now being worn on runways all over the world. It has literally became a fashion taboo that many people try to avoid but now it is a staple for many fashionistas such as myself. This picture is not a good example of the look at all it is actually what you should avoid looking like if you decide to try this look. The best way to rock this look is pairing denim together with the washes being dark and light. Here are some real examples...

FASHION FRIDAY!!!!!

Well, it's Fashion Friday here at Fighting the Current, and we are ecstatic. As promised I do have a surprise! We here at Fighting the current were able to get our hands on the soon to be Editor-in-Chief at a large Fashion Magazine Ginelle Lauriston!!! Ok, so you don't know her yet...but you will. Give us a couple of years LOL. I mean it's not easy to accomplish our dreams but we will. So, we are now awaiting her article on the "Resurrection" of 90's Fashion a subject near and dear to her heart. Who is Ginelle you may ask? Well she's trendy, young and fashionable. With a biting wit, and dreams as big as New York City. Sarcastic, yet bubbly. Cold, yet Warm. She can show you that not everything is as it seems, and as soon as you begin to believe her she'll show you that how it seems is everything. So introducing the heartbreaker, the attention-getter,  the good girl with bad intentions (and vice versa)...GINELLE LAURISTON!!!! *Applause* *Applause*

Good News Everyone!!! As Promised The Boehner deal has died in the senate.
Just an update everyone. Sad News as Boehner's Bill Passes the House. No Democrats voted for it , and over 20 Republicans held out.

Advice to Pres.Obama

I have a few words for you Mr.President...

I'm not sure how many of you caught the "Presidential Address" (if you didn't here's the link http://my.barackobama.com/page/share/debt-deal-video) If you didn't, allow me to give you a very brief recap. President Barack Obama came out to address the US, looked the camera right in the lens and then gave a beautiful flowing speech, in which he tried to explain to Americans that both parties were to blame, and both parties can't reach a compromise. Then a few minutes after Pres. Obama's speech, Lord Fussypants himself, John Boehner came out to address the union. In his address there was no flowery language, no comforting, yet, authoritative words. John Boehner came out and essentially stated "we did the best we could, it's the President's fault if nothing works." There is my problem Mr. President, while you are trying to come across as a loving father figure who wants both factions of the country to work together, the Lord Fussypants(es) of the political spectrum are playing the blame game and allowing you to take the fall. The time for courtesy has passed. Politics is not about being equal. The Republican Party has attempted to vote down anything you do, even if they haven't read the bill. They have stated they want to make it harder for you by embracing the title of "the party of no". Why do you still insist on playing Mr. Nice Guy? You asked Sen. Liberman (D-CT) who had been one of your harshest critics to become a member of the Democratic Caucus!! Why? You tried to "reason" with the "blue dog" Democrats, and when it didn't work you kept just trying to reason! No! If they want to be dogs you train them like dogs, you use a reward system. They behave well, you endorse them, they misbehave you lock them out the house (Pun Intended.) Personally, I think I know why those who oppose everything you do are doing so...but that's a topic for a different day (Right, Rev.Al).  Simply put Mr. President, this playing nice is not benefitting you, you do not have much time left in office, and I am afraid currently for what the future holds... (Find out why I call John Boehner, Lord Fussypants Beyond the Break[The "Read More" Button] )

Breaking News!!! Political Thursday!!!!

The vote by the House to raise the debt ceiling has been placed on hold!! The vote which was supposed to happen three hours ago was abruptly placed on hold by Speaker of the House John Boehner. The reason, you ask?  Well, Boehner can't even get enough members of his own party to agree with the bill. The Upper part of the House, the Senate has already decided that they will vote the Boehner plan down. This is causing many more problems for Boehner’s plan. According to Luke Russert, Republican senators have told him "if the bill is going to be voted down by the Senate, why should we get our constituents mad?" Now some of you are wondering what the big deal is about this debt ceiling. Well, if the debt ceiling isn't raised, the world's number one superpower, the United States of America, will default on its debts. It will ruin American credit, and like people, bad credit can ruin lives. If it isn't raised by Aug 3rd, the treasury will be forced to decide who gets paid. Herein lies the problem. The treasury has to pay $306 billion in bills (could you imagine?), however, it only has $172 billion dollars. So who gets paid? Well, when you have 80 million checks to dish out, you pay in order of importance. First you pay interest on your debt (so you don't meet the "definition" of default), then Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, Defense Vendor, and finally Unemployment. Five programs don’t sound so bad, right? I mean it's only five programs; we should have at least some money to help regulate other programs...right? WRONG!!!! Who remembers the two figures I gave earlier referring to the money we have in bills and the money we have to pay said bills. (If you don't remember, I said there are $306 Billion dollars worth of bills, and only $172 Billion dollars to pay them with...) Now let me show you the problem, those five programs, those five necessary programs, when paid add up to $172 billion. See the issue? 'Ello, 'Ello, 'Ello!!!!

Welcome to Fighting the Current!! You have no idea how long it has taken me to get started on this post!!! But now that I have, allow me to get to the point. I started this blog with no other intention than to share my opinions with the world, and document my journey through life. I have just turned 18 this year, and since no one gave me the manual, I have to learn my way about life through test drives.
